Community Agreements

The following agreements represent our Core Values in action. These things we all agree to abide by when living at Threshold Village:

  • Threshold seeks to be a place of celebration of marginalized communities including 2STLGBQIA+, BIPOC,those with alternative relationship styles, and neurodivergence.  Along with our allies we seek to build a safe and playful home together. All  identities are embraced unapologetically, including, for example, transgender, non-binary and polyamorous community members. This means that we use each other's correct pronouns, challenge cis-hetero-monogamous-normativity in thought and deed, dismantle white supremacy in our bodies and commit ourselves to defending the safety and liberation of all people.
  • We all commit to share equally in the work and care of our home and land, and to show up authentically to check-in and improve our systems as we learn.  This may look like 5 hours per week including community meetings, meal prep, common area cleaning, gardening, leading in-house workshops, etc.
  • We recognize that we all benefit from opportunities to learn new skills and gain experience in thinking differently about building a healthy collaborative culture.  We seek to have many ways, large and small, for each of us to learn, grow and explore together including monthly community offerings to help us dismantle the oppressive ideologies, behaviors, and systems which characterize capitalist-colonial society. Topics may include: unlearning and dismantling white supremacy and racism, misogyny and patriarchy, queer- and trans-phobia, settler colonialism, classism, ableism, re-wiring unhealthy norms around body and sex shaming, and more. In addition, we will learn new conflict resolution approaches, embodiment and mindfulness practices, non-hierarchical governance, and more. This collective learning will help us live together more honestly, compassionately, and cooperatively. We strongly encourage residents to actively participate in these opportunities.
  • Every resident will participate in the communal food purchasing program. The current monthly rate is $250/person with flexible and reduced options possible.
  • We collectively keep the common areas of the house clean.
  • Residents attend our required weekly all-community meeting and one weekly committee meeting of their choosing.
  • No guns on the premises.
  • No smoking in our building or less than 50 feet from the building.
  • We have three dogs and one cat currently and other pets are considered on a case by case basis.
  • Residents agree to adhere to our protocols regarding COVID and other virus. You can read about these protocols here.
  • We strongly encourage residents to maintain a personal practice of self-reflection, personal growth, and/or mindfulness to serve both themselves and the collective.
